# Clemens Vasters
Principal Architect at Microsoft shaping Azure messaging services and protocol standards.

## About

Clemens Vasters builds hyper-scale messaging services at Microsoft. As the Lead Architect for the Azure Messaging team, he helps run platforms like Event Grid, Service Bus, and Stream Analytics.

He also shapes protocols like AMQP, MQTT, and CloudEvents in working groups like OASIS and CNCF. Recently, he has been focusing on JSON Structure—an IETF spec he authored—and the strange quirks of timekeeping in sports analytics data.

With nearly 30 years in software development, Clemens has seen the same computing fashions come and go repeatedly. He admits he still writes too much code for an architect.
