# Douglas Crockford
Discoverer of JSON and author of JavaScript: The Good Parts.

## About

Douglas Crockford is partly to blame for the incredible success of JavaScript. He discovered JSON, the universal standard for data interchange, and wrote the defining book on the language, _JavaScript: The Good Parts_.

Before shaping modern web development, he researched at Atari, directed technology at Lucasfilm, and architected systems at Yahoo and PayPal. He focuses on finding the simple, reliable elements of complex programming tools, a philosophy he details in _How JavaScript Works_.

He consistently challenges how developers think about data structures. In his recent talks, he explores the true story of where JSON came from and what comes next.
