# Gerhard Eschelbeck
Former Google CISO, startup advisor, and co-inventor of CVSS.

## About

Gerhard Eschelbeck advises early-stage tech startups on security and privacy. He previously served as the Chief Information Security Officer at Google, where he led security and privacy engineering.

He is best known for co-inventing the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) and publishing the "Laws of Vulnerabilities." Before his time at Google, he ran technology and product teams as the CTO of both Sophos and Qualys.

Gerhard holds numerous patents in managed network security and earned his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Linz.
