## About

Gonzalo Ortiz Jaureguizar builds high-performance Java databases. He focuses on figuring out exactly how frameworks run under the hood to write faster systems. Currently at StarTree, he spends his days contributing to Apache Pinot.

Before StarTree, he built database prototypes like ToroDB and helped engineer the Spanish tech unicorn Devo. His recent talks tackle the bridge between Java and native languages, like exploring how to safely call Rust from the JVM using Project Panama to replace standard regex engines.
