# Nikita Shamgunov
CEO at Neon, building modern data infrastructure and database systems.

## About

Nikita Shamgunov builds system software and data infrastructure. As the CEO of Neon, he focuses on modernizing databases for the AI era. Before Neon, he co-founded SingleStore—famously spending his first nine months living in the office, coding next to the servers.

His engineering roots include earlier roles on Microsoft's SQL Server team and at Facebook. He recently spoke at World Congress about how intelligent agents are fundamentally shifting how we build software with Postgres.

Nikita holds a computer science Ph.D. from St. Petersburg and earned a bronze medal in the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest.
