## About

Phil Nash builds tools and writes code with JavaScript and Ruby. He focuses on AI and data systems at DataStax, helping developers figure out everything from APIs to embedding models.

He prefers practical implementations over theory. He often live-codes at conferences, breaking down how to build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems from scratch and explaining the mechanics of vector databases and similarity search.

When he isn't speaking at meetups or contributing to open source, Phil brews his own beer and travels to discover new ones.
