Software Development Engineer CCAM f/m/d at AVL


  • Graduate of Telematics, Informatics or similar studies at a university or university of applied sciences
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with C/C++ and Python
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with software development techniques and processes (OOP, FP, PWA, Agile, DevOps)
  • Sound knowledge of software design principles and patterns
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle bus systems (e.g. CAN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet)
  • Ideally knowledge in Continuous Integration using Jenkins and Git
  • Knowledge of model-based software development is an advantage (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink)
  • Knowledge of robotics is an advantage (e.g. ROS)
  • Knowledge of safety, computer vision and/or machine learning is an advantage
  • Sound knowledge of English and German

Scope of Work

  • Lead the conception, detailed design and development of new features by understanding the customer’s needs and translate them into the project requirements
  • Develop (test-driven development) as well as integrate and test software components, applications and sensors in Simulation, HiL and real vehicle including diagnosis of performance issues and improve processing time
  • Define the technical context and architectural solution of the functions to sustainably support the roadmap (critical goals, requirements, usage, installation, operation and maintenance incl. technical support). Define interfaces and interaction of highly distributed software components
  • Elaboration of development packages / user stories based on given requirements and documentation of components and functions, communication of results
  • Review and refactor active/legacy code with continuous feedback to others in the development team
  • Create reports and communicate actively with customers, stakeholders and other teams and apply project specific/necessary tools such as JIRA, Confluence and Git
  • Mentor, coach and transfer your own knowledge to others in the team
  • Follow agile procedures and development models according to Scrum, XP, SAFe

Annual Remuneration: Due to the Austrian Equal Treatment Act we are obligated to state the annual gross remuneration (full-time) for this position as a basis for negotiation: €57.400,00. We will, in any case, offer market-conforming payment taking qualifications and professional experience into account.
