Job description

  • Own and evolve data architecture: Take end-to-end ownership of ACCURE's data infrastructure design. Architect scalable, modular, and maintainable systems for ingestion, transformation, and analytics - with a strong focus on time-series and cloud-native data.
  • Lead development of core data services: Design, implement, and optimise key data services and pipelines that power our analytics and platform features, standardising interfaces using frameworks such as Django and others where appropriate. Ensure reliability, observability, and performance across the stack.
  • Shape best practices and standards: Define engineering standards for data quality, architecture, and automation. Mentor other engineers in building reliable, testable, and maintainable data systems.
  • Drive cloud infrastructure excellence: Operate and enhance AWS infrastructure (S3, Aurora, RDS, IAM, EKS, EC2, etc.), and lead automation initiatives with IaC and CI/CD workflows.
  • Collaborate strategically: Work cross-functionally with Platform, Battery Analytics, and Customer Success teams to align on architectural evolution, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Influence technical direction: Identify technical debt, propose architectural improvements, and help shape ACCURE's long-term data platform roadmap.

Requirements

  • Architectural leadership: Demonstrated experience designing and evolving data architectures for scale - ideally handling large time-series or IoT-style data. You think in systems and interfaces, not just scripts and pipelines.
  • AWS fluency: Confident in operating core AWS services (S3, Aurora, RDS, IAM, EKS, EC2, etc.). Experience with IaC, preferably with Pulumi, and PubSub architectures (e.g RabbitMQ, Kafka, SNS, and SQS)
  • Engineering excellence: Strong Python background with sound design principles, testing culture, and CI/CD automation. You can review, refactor, and guide others' code effectively.
  • Data engineering mastery: Proven track record in building robust ETL/ELT systems, working with Pandas and modern data lake or warehouse patterns. You understand performance tuning, data lineage, and governance.
  • Kubernetes and ontainer orchestration: Proven experience deploying and scaling applications on Kubernetes (preferably EKS). Proficient with Helm and ArgoCD (or similar tools) for configuration and GitOps workflows.
  • Automation and observability: Practical experience in automating workflows, testing, and observability. Familiar with monitoring and alerting (e.g Grafana, Fluentbit, Opensearch).
  • Databases and data modelling: Strong SQL skills with experience in relational (PostgreSQL), NoSQL (DynamoDB), and time-series databases. Solid grasp of schema design, query optimisation, and high-ingestion data patterns.
  • Language skills: Fluent English required

Benefits & conditions

  • Shape your role: Actively shape this role and its scope with us, depending on your expertise and preferences.
  • Work-life-balance: Trust-based, flexible working hours, 30-day vacation entitlement.
  • Carnival: We love carnival. That's why we're giving you Rose Monday as an extra day of holiday. ALAAF!
  • Compensation: Performance-based compensation plan.
  • Remote or office based: It's your choice - either work from our lovely office in Aachen, choose a co-working space wherever you live or work from home (somewhere in Europe).
  • Company events: Two 5-day company onsites per year
  • Never stop learning: Personal development plan and budget that you can actively shape.
  • A job that shapes the future and turns our planet greener one battery at a time.
