Job description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Cobol Developer to reinforce an existing team for a long-term assignment. The consultant must be Dutch-speaking, highly autonomous, and committed to delivering high-quality solutions within an agile environment. This role involves maintaining and enhancing mainframe applications, supporting critical financial processes, and contributing to ongoing development sprints., * Work within a classic IBM mainframe environment to ensure the reliability, stability, and performance of both batch and online processes.
- Analyse business and functional requirements, translating them into robust and efficient Cobol solutions.
- Develop new Cobol programs and enhance existing functionalities to support ongoing business needs.
- Provide technical input and contribute to problem-solving during development and maintenance activities.
- Participate actively in sprint ceremonies, taking ownership of assigned tasks and ensuring timely delivery.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues, communicating proactively to support smooth progress within the team.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Mainframe development?, Eligibility: Candidates must possess European nationality or a valid work permit for Belgium, * At least 5 years of proven experience in Cobol programming
- Strong, practical experience with IBM mainframe environments
- Hands-on knowledge of CICS and VSAM
- Experience working with batch processing, job management, and JCL
- Practical use of RDZ for development
- Familiarity with operational tools such as SDSF for monitoring and troubleshooting
- Dutch fluency is mandatory for this role, and professional proficiency in English is expected., * A background in financial environments is certainly a plus, though not a strict requirement. What truly matters is your solid experience and confidence working within mainframe ecosystems.
