Job description

For our Grocery Business Unit, we are looking for a BU Logistics Engineer who will take on the role of Product Owner for 0.6 FTE, complemented by responsibilities in Continuous Improvement, Projects, and Data & BI (32-40 hours per week). This is a really versatile and dynamic role where you take the lead, coordinate activities, ensure smooth operations, and manage stakeholders-a key aspect of the position. The Product Owner (PO) acts as the bridge between the business and the Agile IT team, ensuring that continuous improvement initiatives for the WMS and related systems deliver maximum value to GXO. The PO represents the operational perspective of the Business Unit (BU), prioritizing, refining, and overseeing the implementation of system enhancements aligned with business goals.

What do you do on a typical day?

  • Backlog Management:

  • Own, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog for continuous IT system improvement.

  • Clearly define and document business requirements, translating operational needs into user stories or features.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between BU/site key users, business leaders, and the Agile IT team.
  • Facilitate communication to gather insights and feedback from stakeholders across the BU.

Vision and Strategy:

  • Develop and maintain a clear product vision and roadmap in collaboration with the BU and Agile IT team.
  • Align initiatives with BU strategic goals and ensure the continuous improvement plan enhances operational efficiency.

Sprint Involvement:

  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Accept or reject completed work based on predefined acceptance criteria.

Continuous Improvement Leadership:

  • Identify optimization opportunities within WMS functionality, workflows, and system integrations.
  • Use data and performance metrics to guide decisions and prioritize high-impact initiatives.

Change Management Support:

  • Ensure smooth implementation of changes by working closely with BU/site key users to manage impacts and provide training or communication as needed.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in a role within logistics, warehouse operations, or supply chain management.
  • 3-5 years working in an Agile environment.
  • End-to-end experience with WMS systems (implementation experience is a plus).

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of warehouse workflows and business processes.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and make informed decisions based on operational value.
  • Familiarity with Agile principles and cross-functional team collaboration.
  • Excellent communication in English (mandatory) and Dutch (preferred), with strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • Ability to bridge IT and operational business.
  • Proven ability to understand IT concepts and communicate effectively with technical teams.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on identifying improvement opportunities and delivering tangible results.
