Job description
An exciting opportunity for a technically strong and commercially focused Senior Data Engineer with deep event-streaming expertise. You will play a key role in shaping and developing an organisation's event analytics strategy, working alongside a modern Data Engineering function.
This role sits within the Data Leadership Team and reports directly into the Head of Data & Insights. You will take ownership of the evolution of event streaming capability across the business., * Architect and deliver event-driven data solutions aligned to business needs
- Develop, deploy, and maintain scalable and robust event streaming systems
- Implement and support stream-based analytics
- Uphold security, governance, and compliance best practice across data pipelines
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with wider systems
- Monitor, optimise, and improve platform performance (latency, throughput, cost efficiency)
- Troubleshoot issues to ensure highly available and reliable data services
What You'll Bring
Requirements
- Typically 5+ years in a senior technical data engineering role
Knowledge
- Expert understanding of event-driven architecture within AWS
- Real-time / near real-time stream processing tools (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka, Firehose, Flink etc.)
- DevOps and CI/CD best practices
- Practical application of streaming analytics
- Security and risk frameworks within data platforms
Skills
- AWS stack exposure (e.g., S3, EMR, EC2, Kinesis, Firehose, Flink/MSF)
- Python
- SQL (dbt desirable)
- Strong communication capabilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
