Data Engineer

An exciting opportunity for a technically strong and commercially focused Senior Data Engineer with deep event-streaming expertise. You will play a key role in shaping and developing an organisation's event analytics strategy, working alongside a modern Data Engineering function.

This role sits within the Data Leadership Team and reports directly into the Head of Data & Insights. You will take ownership of the evolution of event streaming capability across the business., * Architect and deliver event-driven data solutions aligned to business needs

• Develop, deploy, and maintain scalable and robust event streaming systems
• Implement and support stream-based analytics
• Uphold security, governance, and compliance best practice across data pipelines
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with wider systems
• Monitor, optimise, and improve platform performance (latency, throughput, cost efficiency)
• Troubleshoot issues to ensure highly available and reliable data services

What You'll Bring

• Typically 5+ years in a senior technical data engineering role

Knowledge

• Expert understanding of event-driven architecture within AWS
• Real-time / near real-time stream processing tools (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka, Firehose, Flink etc.)
• DevOps and CI/CD best practices
• Practical application of streaming analytics
• Security and risk frameworks within data platforms

Skills

• AWS stack exposure (e.g., S3, EMR, EC2, Kinesis, Firehose, Flink/MSF)
• Python
• SQL (dbt desirable)
• Strong communication capabilities
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
