Job description

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Cloud Engineer to work for our client within the retail sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London., This project involves designing, building, and maintaining large-scale, cloud-based microservices capable of processing millions of records daily. Working within an enterprise environment, you'll contribute to the architecture and infrastructure on AWS, leveraging Kafka, Java 21+, and Spring Boot, while also providing technical leadership and fostering team performance through knowledge sharing and innovation. Responsibilities:

  • You'll be part of a team that owns the architecture, development and operation of a number of microservices that process millions of records daily.

  • You'll work with the team to support in designing and implementing cloud based infrastructure.

  • You'll work with technologies at Enterprise scale.

  • You'll guide, support and enable performance within the team through providing technical knowledge and ideas.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of at least one programming language. Java, Springboot are preferred.

  • Great expertise in engineering practice, including deep knowledge of engineering and architectural principles.

  • Proven experience of infrastructure as code, software design and implementation, security, cloud and CI/CD.

  • Self motivation and constantly striving to improve your team, division and peers

  • Drive for advocacy of agile/lean delivery methodologies.

  • A passion for delivering solutions to customers, owning the whole SDLC and living the DevSecOps principles.

  • A passion for enhancing your knowledge and evidence curiosity in emerging tech.

  • Empathy and understanding in supporting colleagues in the team to deliver.
