Job description

Are you an experienced Business Analyst with expertise in establishing robust data governance and lineage in a modern data environment? A leading financial institution is seeking a skilled contractor to take on a pivotal role within their Data and Analytics Team., The role: Lead Business Analyst - Data models for Microsoft Fabric, You will be responsible for setting up semantic models and ensuring end-to-end traceability of data from ingestion to consumption across the enterprise. This is a key leadership role with management responsibility, driving the foundational capabilities for trustworthy data consumption., * Set up semantic models, physical lineage linked to the logical data catalog, and ensure end-to-end traceability.

  • Manage and maintain logical lineage for critical data and lead stakeholder conversations on lineage tracking and remediation.
  • Work with analysts and designers to capture metadata as core deliverables and manage maintenance of metadata/process map artefacts.

Enterprise data models:

  • Co-lead the development of data models with data architects to support system design.
  • Support logical data models and co-own master data management with data architecture.

Tooling and platform implementation:

  • Support the implementation requirements for Purview with Fabric.
  • Support the integration of tools like Solidatus and Aperture with data tooling and change engineering.
  • Establish and effectively run a suite of data management tools, including metadata catalogs and Microsoft tooling.

Requirements

  • Extensive practical experience as a Metadata Manager and Architect.
  • Successful implementation of metadata tooling improvements.
  • Proficiency in technical design and designing stakeholder user experiences with lineage.
  • Current working knowledge of industry best practice (e.g., DAMA/EDM).
  • Understanding and experience of logical data modelling and data normalisation.
  • Experience designing metadata and lineage controls, including metric/KPI production.

Highly desirable

  • Experience in an Investment or Commercial Bank, Asset or Fund Manager.
  • Experience managing teams (direct and/or indirect reporting).
  • Qualification or experience in an architecture framework (e.g., TOGAF).
