We're looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking ISP Security professional to join our Enterprise Architecture and Systems Services Team, based at Britannia House in the heart of Bradford. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead our dedicated IT Security team and play a key role in strengthening and evolving the council's security posture.
In this role, you'll take the lead on developing security policies, shaping security documentation, and ensuring our systems are well-supported, resilient, and secure. You'll work closely with colleagues across the organisation-including project teams, business units, and infrastructure specialists-to guide, influence, and champion best-practice security controls.
What you'll be doing:
- Driving and supporting the council's evolving security strategy
- Overseeing the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of Information Security policies, procedures and guidance
- Partnering with our internal and external SOC resources to protect the council's digital estate
- Leading execution of the IT Security Strategy and contributing to long-term security planning
- Managing and maintaining a clear risk, controls, and issues framework for information security
- Overseeing investigations, escalations, and reporting of security incidents, including data protection breaches
- Maintaining key security metrics, risk indicators and dashboards
- Developing and maintaining our incident response processes
- Providing expertise across all major security domains including infrastructure, applications, cloud, integration and networks
- Working hands-on with key technologies such as anti-virus/endpoint protection, mail and web filtering, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing tools
- Leveraging your experience with AWS, Azure and Microsoft 365 security features
- Supporting authentication, identity, and access management initiatives, including implementation of the council's IAM plan
- Contributing to our Architecture Framework as we transform IT Services for the future
Requirements
Do you have experience in Penetration testing?, * Strong understanding of privacy, compliance and regulatory frameworks such as PCI DSS, PSN, DPA, IG Toolkit and the Computer Misuse Act
- Experience delivering robust information security practices in a complex environment
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills-you'll be helping shape security culture across the council
- CISSP, CISM or similar certification is advantageous
- Knowledge of TOGAF is desirable
