Steele Charles are delighted to have been reengaged by a leading UK ticketing and event technology business on this, the appointment of a PHP Developer to join their Edinburgh-based team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the growth of a platform that empowers event organisers and content creators to deliver unforgettable experiences to fans across the UK and internationally.
You will join a fast-growing, innovative, and collaborative team, supporting some of the most renowned live events while helping to challenge and transform the ticketing industry.
The Role
As a PHP Developer, you will contribute to the ongoing development of a robust, scalable ticketing platform used by thousands of event organisers. Working closely with talented developers, UX designers, and QA engineers, you will:
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented PHP code
- Design and optimise database schemas for large-scale MySQL environments
- Develop and maintain unit and behavioural tests (Cypress)
- Participate in sprint planning and collaborative problem-solving sessions
- Take part in Level 2 support rotation to understand user behaviour and real-world issues
- Contribute to the engineering culture through knowledge sharing, workshops, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' PHP development experience
- Proven experience with PHP frameworks (bespoke or standard)
- Strong understanding of MySQL and database design
- Skilled in Git (GitLab experience advantageous)
- Proactive self-starter with excellent organisational skills
- Collaborative team player with strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Passionate about building innovative technology in a fast-paced environment
