Job description

Steele Charles are delighted to have been reengaged by a leading UK ticketing and event technology business on this, the appointment of a PHP Developer to join their Edinburgh-based team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the growth of a platform that empowers event organisers and content creators to deliver unforgettable experiences to fans across the UK and internationally.

You will join a fast-growing, innovative, and collaborative team, supporting some of the most renowned live events while helping to challenge and transform the ticketing industry.

The Role

As a PHP Developer, you will contribute to the ongoing development of a robust, scalable ticketing platform used by thousands of event organisers. Working closely with talented developers, UX designers, and QA engineers, you will:

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented PHP code
  • Design and optimise database schemas for large-scale MySQL environments
  • Develop and maintain unit and behavioural tests (Cypress)
  • Participate in sprint planning and collaborative problem-solving sessions
  • Take part in Level 2 support rotation to understand user behaviour and real-world issues
  • Contribute to the engineering culture through knowledge sharing, workshops, and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' PHP development experience
  • Proven experience with PHP frameworks (bespoke or standard)
  • Strong understanding of MySQL and database design
  • Skilled in Git (GitLab experience advantageous)
  • Proactive self-starter with excellent organisational skills
  • Collaborative team player with strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Passionate about building innovative technology in a fast-paced environment
