Job description

  • Act as the technical lead for allocated client sites, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Scope new customer requirements and change requests, producing estimates, technical documentation, and implementation plans.
  • Design, configure and implement HL7, FHIR, and other interoperability solutions, adhering to NHS standards and internal coding practices.
  • Peer Review code and scoping documentation, contributing to quality assurance processes.
  • Support testing and deployment of solutions, including go-live planning and post-implementation support.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues effectively, escalating, as necessary.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for internal and client use
  • Adhere to data protection, governance and security requirements, ensuring all solutions align with NHS policy.
  • Contribute to internal tooling, code libraries, and process improvements.
  • Provide knowledge transfer both internally and externally as required by the project team.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings and client discussions.
  • Complete training and maintain relevant certifications in line with agreed development plans.

Requirements

We're looking for someone with a strong technical background in healthcare interoperability, who is confident working with NHS systems and integration tools. The ideal candidate will bring experience in delivering, testing and maintaining integration solutions and have a solid understanding of HL7, FHIR, and other healthcare messaging standards.

They will be analytical, organised, and solutions-focused - comfortable working independently or as part of a wider project team. They will be proactive in communication, keen to share knowledge, and committed to delivering high-quality results for clients., * Proven experience in an integration, technical consulting or interface development role.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare and interoperability standards (HL7 v2 / v3, FHIR, API) Hands-on experience with integration engines such as Rhapsody, Mirth Connect, Health Connect or similar.
  • Familiarity with NHS systems, workflows and national standards (e.g., Spine, GP Connect, SNOMED CT).
  • Confident problem-solver, with the ability to identify, diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with clients.
  • Experience producing high-quality technical documentation.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, working across multiple projects or workstreams.
