Job description
Our client is looking to appoint an experienced IT Manager who can combine senior technical expertise with confident team leadership. This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys being hands-on with infrastructure while also shaping the direction, performance and development of a small internal IT function.
Working at the heart of the business, you will oversee the stability, security and progression of their core systems. You will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the infrastructure, lead technical improvements, and ensure the business remains resilient and well-supported. This includes managing internal team members, coordinating external suppliers, and ensuring the organisation's technology environment remains efficient, secure and fit for purpose.
Requirements
- A strong Level 3 infrastructure background, comfortable tackling complex issues first-hand
- Solid experience working with virtualisation platforms such as VMWare, Proxmox, or other hypervisors
- A sound understanding of cybersecurity principles, system continuity, and disaster recovery planning
- Confident networking skills, including VLAN configuration and virtual network environments
- Previous experience managing and developing technical staff, with a focus on coaching rather than delegation
- Someone who enjoys a varied workload and is happy to pitch in at all levels when needed
- Experience managing IT contracts or budgets is beneficial but not essential
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants real ownership, enjoys variety, and thrives in a collaborative, non-corporate environment where every day brings something slightly different.
