Job description

We're looking for a Senior UX designer to take Seccl to the next stage of our product's growth journey. We're at an exciting inflection point - as an API-first company built on strong foundations, we've empowered customers to build solutions on top of our platform. Now, we're ready to take the next step transforming how we think, design anddeliver experiences through adviser and investor-facing UIs and portals.

As a Senior UX designer, you will act as visionary, leading the evolution of design best practice and ensuring creative excellence in every aspect of our work. You will work across a variety of teams and product initiatives leading challenging and innovative projects to offer best-in-class digital experiences.

This is a high-impact, high-ownership role, ideal for someone who combines sharp product thinking, strong UX skills, and a passion for simplifying complexity.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Shape the role of design within our product and engineering-led culture, introducing customer-centred thinking into a space that's ready to scale and innovate.
  • Act as the trusted adviser to product leadership, shaping scalable, user-first design whilst remaining hands on designing the product and a scalable design system.
  • Create the UX strategy and roadmap for a fast-growing fintech that wants to disrupt an outdated industry.
  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and gather user feedback through various methods to understand customer needs and pain points.
  • Lead on the UX for product initiatives - representing the voice of the customer to directly improve the overall customer experience ultimately reducing friction and increasing efficiencies.
  • Contribute to multiple high-performing, autonomous squads where your ideas will directly influence our success.

On a typical day you will be…

  • Designing and optimising end-to-end customer journeys across mobile and web platforms to address pain points, drive business outcomes and deliver value for our customers.
  • Collaborating with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to co-create solutions that are technically feasible and commercially impactful.
  • Defining UX approaches and research plans across initiatives and teams.
  • Engaging directly with customers to gather requirements, validate solutions, and ensure the product delivers real value.
  • Using both quantitative and qualitative data to inform evidence-based decisions., Access to initiatives like Cycle to Work and Octopus Electric Vehicle Leasing Our culture

We're proud to put people first, creating a culture where we truly listen to what matters most to them. Our transparent and inclusive environment encourages diversity of thought, challenge and experimentation.

Interview process

Interviewing is a two-way thing, and we want you to have the time and opportunity to get to know us, as much as we are getting to know you. Our interviews are conversational, so come with questions and be curious. In general, you can expect the interview process to look a bit like this, (following an initial chat with one of our Talent team):

  • First stage - 45 mins competencies-based interview with the hiring manager + team member
  • Second stage - one-hour technical focused interview, we will share a case study task in advance for you to present back to us on
  • Final stage - 45 mins cross-functional culture-based interview

We'll only close this role once we have enough applications for the next stage. Please submit your application as soon as possible to make sure you don't miss out and you should expect to hear back from us within one to two weeks of applying.

Requirements

  • You have experience within UX design and cross-platform - you've designed both web and mobile features in a B2C or D2C environment
  • You are comfortable working with data and insights to guide decisions and experienced in customer research methods
  • You have a keen eye for detail, strong visual design skills, and the ability to translate complex user journeys into simple, intuitive interfaces.
  • You have a clear bias for action and proactivity - you take the initiative to spot opportunities, gather insights, and move things forward, even when the path isn't fully defined.
  • You have the ability to bring clarity to ambiguity - structuring problems and shaping them into actionable work.
  • You have empathy for others - through mentorship, sharing knowledge, and modelling high standards.

This role isn't for you if...

  • You rely on a lot of top-down direction. Here, you'll have a lot of freedom and ownership of your role, and you'll be expected to shape your own progression
  • You're not comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Our speed and scalability are what set us apart; you need to be able to act quickly and think on your feet
  • You struggle to follow through on ideas. We value people who do what they say they will. If you care about something, you have the freedom here to make it happen
  • You don't like change . You'll get on great here if you relish the ambiguity of rapid growth and are willing to embrace uncertainty
