Frontend Developer - React - 12 Months - Remote

Job Title: Frontend Developer Rate: £400 (Inside IR35) Duration: 6 Months Clearance: BPSS Location: 3 Days onsite in either (Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle (upon Tyne), Sheffield)

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain digital services using Node.js, Nunjucks, and React within DWP standards and architecture.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, user researchers, and other engineers in an agile environment.
• Build reusable components and libraries, ensuring maintainable and scalable codebases.
• Integrate APIs and microservices, focusing on performance, security, and accessibility.
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and continuous improvement activities.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and solution architecture as needed.
• Ensure compliance with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA).
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to wider teams.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience with Node.js (backend services and API development).
• Proficiency with Nunjucks for templating and server-side rendering.
• Solid experience developing modern Front End applications using React.
• Knowledge of RESTful API design and integration.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Understanding of security best practices, testing approaches, and CI/CD workflows.
• Ability to work effectively on-site with multi-disciplinary teams.
