Job description
As Senior Backend Engineer, you'll own the systems that power this growth. This isn't a maintenance role. We're not looking for someone to "keep APIs alive."
We're looking for someone who:
- takes initiative,
- thrives in fast-changing environments,
- isn't afraid to zoom out to design complex systems or zoom in to perfect a single query.
You'll design and scale the backend, make bold architectural calls, and build APIs that frontend engineers love to use. You'll dive deep into data flows, caching, and performance - always thinking about how backend decisions shape the user experience.
You value clarity over complexity, impact over showmanship, and you care about how your work affects millions of real users.
What you'll do
-
Architect and evolve backend systems that support millions of active users - from designing architecture to making sure everything runs smooth at scale.
-
Build APIs engineers love - clean, reliable, and intuitive, so the frontend team can move fast without friction.
-
Work with complex data flows, caching, and messaging, always balancing performance with simplicity.
-
Detect and resolve performance bottlenecks before users notice.
-
Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and data teams to ship fast and iterate faster.
-
Bring fresh ideas, constantly push limits, challenge assumptions, and raise the bar for backend engineering.
Requirements
-
Solid experience building backend systems at scale (5+ years) - you've seen what works and what breaks when millions of people use a product.
-
Strong Node.js + TypeScript skills - async code feels like second nature to you.
-
Experience designing scalable architectures and RESTful APIs that other engineers love to work with.
-
Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch - comfortable with large datasets and optimizing for real-world use.
-
Hands-on knowledge of Redis and RabbitMQ - you know how to make systems both fast and resilient.
-
Confidence around infrastructure - you can configure Nginx and aren't afraid to get into deployment details.
-
Extra points if you've touched Flutter or Kotlin, but curiosity and adaptability matter more than a checklist.
-
Most importantly: you thrive in fast-changing environments where "done" beats "perfect," and impact always comes first.
You'll fit right in if you
-
Prefer freedom over fixed schedules - remote, flexible, unlimited time off.
-
Are naturally curious and love driving real impact for users and the business.
-
Can wear multiple hats - we love experts, but we also value jacks of all trades.
Benefits & conditions
If you're looking for a fully remote role with flexible hours, unlimited time off, and the chance to design products used by millions of people, this one's for you ?
