Job description
As a Senior DevOps Engineer within our Platform Group, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of our infrastructure and developer experience. Initially, your focus will be on optimising our CI/CD pipelines to boost developer velocity and reviewing our monitoring and observability setup, with evaluating our use of Heroku on the list. This role offers a mix of technical leadership, hands-on problem-solving and cross-team collaboration. You'll work closely with engineers, a technical product manager and stakeholders to design scalable, efficient, and resilient systems.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Enhance and streamline our continuous integration and deployment pipelines to improve reliability and speed.
- Review and improve our monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure system health and rapid issue resolution.
- Database monitoring work on database monitoring and alerting to proactively prevent performance bottlenecks.
- We estimate this role will be approximately 30% focused on developer experience vs 70% infrastructure work.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Terraform?, * Proven experience as a DevOps or Platform Engineer, with hands-on expertise.
- Strong AWS and Terraform skills, with a track record of designing and managing cloud-based systems.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and best practices to improve software delivery speed and reliability.
- Passion for developer velocity, continuously finding ways to make engineers more productive.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Self-starter mindset, able to take ownership of projects and drive them forward without needing explicit direction.
Bonus Points for experience with:
- Experience with Ruby on Rails and optimising set up
- Measuring and improving developer productivity using DORA metrics.
- PostgreSQL, and security best practices.
