Job description

Our Technology team drives the evolution of our Technology, Engineering, Data, Product and User Experience functions. With a keen focus on delivering cutting-edge solutions, we shape the digital landscape for our customers, readers, and users. From revolutionizing visuals to optimizing tools and harnessing the power of data, mobile, video, and social platforms, our team is committed to providing a seamless and immersive experience across all touchpoints. Collaborating closely with our newsrooms and strategic partners, we spearhead the development of groundbreaking products and technologies., You will implement digital tagging and measurement for Dow Jones portfolio of Digital products, including websites, mobile apps and connected device apps. You will work with product, engineering, design, analytics, marketing, and business team members to capture the data needed to lead our decisions.

You will:

  • Following Dow Jones standards, design analytics tracking specifications for Dow Jones digital products and platforms, including web, mobile apps, off-platform, and connected device (OTT) platforms
  • Partner with internal and external development teams to test and deploy new tracking solutions while monitoring and optimizing existing integrations
  • Be a Data Steward for usage data.
  • Manage tag management systems and data collection tools.
  • Work with data collection and analytics vendors to get the most out of systems and services.
  • Run end-to-end testing, QA, QC, and debugging of analytics code using various tools (Observepoint, Adobe Debugger, Charles or Firebug, etc).
  • Confirm the quality of the data collected in analytics tools (Adobe, Piano, Google Analytics) and databases (BigQuery, Athena, Snowflake) with SQL
  • Keep documentation up to date.

Requirements

  • College degree or technical degree in computing, business data management, analytics, or digital marketing. Advanced degrees welcome.
  • Up to 2 years of experience in a technology role, in a data intensive environment.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of SQL experience and understanding of data configuration and databases.
  • Understanding of digital products, tracking and data collection processes, and platforms.
  • Experience with Adobe Analytics, Tealium, or Google Analytics a plus.
  • Up to 2 years working with data; with a focus on data quality, identifying data issues, sources.
  • Experience in media industry and understanding of industry key metrics.
  • Familiarity with technical project implementation, including all phases from requirements, development, quality assurances, and launch.
  • Focus on data quality.
  • Web development knowledge, specifically an ability to be hands on with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Web Services
  • Analytical thought process to identify what data may be needed to measure user engagement with products.
  • Experience creating detailed technical documentation with an understanding of marketing and operations management and processes.
