Job description

As an AWS Senior DevOps Engineer at Mercell, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure and deployment processes. You will focus on building scalable, secure, and automated solutions to enhance system reliability and performance. Collaborating with development and operations teams, you will drive CI/CD best practices, infrastructure as code (IaC) adoption, and security enhancements. Your expertise will help streamline workflows, improve monitoring and logging, and ensure high availability and resilience of cloud-based applications. What you'll do:

As AWS Senior DevOps Engineer, you will work on:

Platform engineering

  • Architecting a unified application platform to standardize development and delivery across the enterprise

Cloud Infrastructure & Automation

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform with Terragrunt and CloudFormation with CDK.

CI/CD Pipeline Management

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast and reliable software delivery using GitHub Actions.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement security best practices, monitor cloud environments for vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with industry standards

Monitoring & Incident Response

  • Set up logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions to ensure system performance and quick incident resolution.

Performance and Optimization

  • Identify and implement optimizations for cost efficiency, scalability, and performance across company services and infrastructure.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Work closely with development and security teams to streamline workflows, improve automation, and promote DevOps best practices, * Portugal, Lisbon (remote): Mercell does not currently have a legal entity in Portugal. Employment will therefore be arranged through a trusted Employer of Record (EoR) partner, in line with local regulations. Candidates should be comfortable with this arrangement.
  • Netherlands, Utrecht (hybrid): Combination of work from home and on-site presence in our local office, to foster collaboration.

Please note: Mercell does not provide relocation support for this position. We are seeking candidates who are already based in, or have existing work authorization for, the country where the role is located.

Requirements

  • Strong experience (ideally 5+ years) in DevOps Engineer roles or similar.

  • Hands-on experience managing and optimizing AWS Cloud environments.

  • Strong proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation for automating cloud resource provisioning.

  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline, or similar tools.

  • Understanding of AWS security best practices and process how to build secure and reliable SDLC.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS CloudWatch

  • Knowledge of AWS networking concepts

  • Experience working with Docker, AWS ECS (or AWS EKS) for containerized application deployment.

  • Experience working with AWS Lambda

  • Experience working in Agile teams, following DevOps principles, and collaborating with development and Security teams.

  • Hands-on experience managing Azure Cloud environments

  • Hands-on experience with one of more popular programming languages

  • Experience working as Software engineer in agile team
