• Designing and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models.

• Collaborating with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to gather and translate data requirements.

• Ensuring data models support operations, business intelligence and analytics use cases.

• Implementing and maintaining metadata and data dictionaries.

• Reviewing and optimising existing data models for performance and scalability.

• Ensuring data models align with data governance and security standards.

• Mentoring junior data modellers and supporting their development.

• Participating in architectural discussions and contributing to data strategy.

• Documenting data structures, relationships, and business rules.

• Supporting data integration and transformation processes.

• Communicating modelling decisions and rationale to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Documenting, designing and aiding in the implementation of data models for data warehouses and analytics platforms.

• Modelling unstructured, semi structured and structured data.

• Modelling the migration of data from legacy systems.

• Using data modelling tools such as ER/Studio, ERwin, dbt, or similar.

• Writing complex SQL or Python queries and understanding data profiling techniques.

• Working with cloud-based data platforms e.g. Azure Synapse.

• Applying data governance and data quality principles in modelling work.

• Holding a degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field or equivalent experience.

• Having extensive experience in data modelling or related roles.

• Holding relevant certifications (e.g. Azure Data Fundamentals, DAMA CDMP) is desirable.

Working Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (The team offers support 07:00-18:00)Occasional out of hours work will be required, this will be paid or time off in lieu. Occasional travel to other sites will be required)

The Financial Ombudsman Service has been resolving customer complaints since 2001. Our service is free for consumers to use and over 1 million people contact us every year.
