Job description
As a Medior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing the systems that make sense of the chaos on the pitch. You will work on code that automatically detects the timing of key events-identifying a keeper save, a foul, or a shot purely from tracking data.
Each day, you'll work with .NET and C# to extend our libraries for enhancing and validating sports data. You won't just be moving data; you'll be building error detection systems that ensure our positional tracking is accurate and glitch-free before it reaches the viewers.
You will act as a vital link in our production chain, creating efficient data structures to exchange information with Game Developers and Data Scientists. You'll apply Domain Driven Design (DDD) logic to translate complex business concepts (like the rules of a sport) into technical representations that our engines can understand.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Git?, Do you have a Master's degree?, At Beyond Sports, we appreciate engineers who think before they type. We are looking for someone who can work independently but also thrives in an Agile environment where code reviews and constructive feedback are the norm., * Think logically and mathematically. You enjoy the challenge of detecting patterns (like an offside or a goal) within raw data sets.
- Value clean architecture. You have the ability to apply Domain Driven Design to keep your code maintainable and logical.
- Are proactive. You don't just spot an error in the tracking data; you build a system to fix it.
- Are a team player. You are ready to share knowledge, communicate clearly in English, and collaborate with teammates across different disciplines.
This role is based on-site at our Alkmaar office (40 hours per week). You'll need to be living in the Netherlands and eligible to work in the EU.
Tech Stack and Skill Requirements
You don't need to tick every box, but here's what we're looking for:
- BSc or MSc in Software Engineering (or equivalent formal qualification).
- 2+ years of professional experience with C#/.NET development.
- Experience applying Domain Driven Design (DDD) logic.
- Strong algorithmic thinking: Ability to write logic that detects events and actions in data.
- Version Control: Ability to handle large projects using Git/Version Control.
- Cloud Experience: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS is a bonus) is great, but a strong engineering mindset comes first.
