Job description
The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and resilient network infrastructure across client environments. This includes supporting day-to-day operations, troubleshooting complex issues, contributing to project work, and ensuring the stability and performance of client networks.
The role is 9am to 5pm, with a 30 minute break for lunch, Monday to Friday and based at our Woking head office., * Manage, maintain, and support client network environments including switches, firewalls, routers, VPNs, and wireless solutions.
- Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve issues to maintain uptime and performance SLAs.
- Implement changes, upgrades, and configuration improvements in line with best practices and change management processes.
- Act as an escalation point for network-related incidents and problem resolution.
- Design and deploy secure, scalable, and reliable network solutions for client environments.
- Participate in infrastructure and migration projects involving LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, and cloud connectivity.
- Work with vendors and internal teams to ensure solutions align with business and security requirements.
- Configure and manage security appliances (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs) to ensure network integrity.
- Maintain compliance with security standards and client contractual requirements.
- Support cybersecurity initiatives and coordinate with security teams on threat mitigation and response.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network designs, configurations, and procedures.
- Contribute to standardisation of configurations and network management processes.
- Identify opportunities for automation, optimisation, and service improvement.
Requirements
Do you have experience in VPN?, * Proven experience as a Network Engineer within an MSP or multi-client environment.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, QoS, DNS, DHCP.
- Hands-on experience with key vendor technologies (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Ubiquiti, Meraki, or similar).
