Job description
The DevOps team is tasked with overall management of the Cloud infrastructure on which our applications are deployed and hosted and ensuring this is done so in accordance with latest best practises and industry standards. The senior DevOps engineer should be an expert in their field and be able to cover all the skills and responsibilities detailed below to a high level.
- Design, implementation and management of Kubernetes based infrastructure, deployment pipelines and automation. With a specific focus to hosting within the AWS cloud.
- Collaboration with Solutions Architects and other engineering teams to understand requirements and build efficient, available, scalable and secure platforms and solutions.
- Use of infrastructure as code and supporting tooling (Terraform, ArgoCD etc)
Implement effective monitoring, logging and alerting to work with tooling from other areas of the business - pushing for uptime, reliability and SRE practises.
- Highly security focussed, ensuring that all deployments and infrastructure are secure and adhere to best practises.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to infrastructure, deployments and applications.
- Keep up with emerging technology and understanding of industry best practice.
- Be a mentor to junior members of the team
Requirements
Do you have experience in Terraform?, * Prior experience at a high level in a DevOps engineering role with exposure to the following:
- AWS/Cloud technologies
- Kubernetes and associated tooling
- Terraform IaC
- Pipelining and CI/CD tools.
- Security practises and tooling - Orca, Sonarcloud, Snyk and Trivy
- Excellent understanding of software development lifecycles and agile methodologies
- Good scripting skills
- Experience of logging and monitoring tooling - Cloudwatch, Opensearch/Elasticsearch, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus
- AWS and or Kubernetes focussed Certification -professional or specialist level
- Experience with other cloud platforms would be beneficial also but not a requirement.
