Job description

The IT Technician will support a hospital-based IT environment, providing hands-on network deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting across the main facility in Towson, MD and associated satellite locations. This role is focused on foundational networking work, including configuring and installing switches and firewalls, supporting network closet buildouts, and assisting with new site deployments. The position is well-suited for a junior to associate-level professional with a solid understanding of networking fundamentals who is eager to learn, take direction, and grow within a healthcare infrastructure environment. The IT Technician will play a key role in ensuring reliable connectivity and network performance across clinical and administrative systems.

What You'll Get to Do:

· Configure, install, and support network hardware including switches, routers, and firewalls across hospital and satellite sites.

· Assist with network closet buildouts, cable management, and equipment organization.

· Perform hands-on deployment of firewalls, including initial setup, configuration, and installation at new locations.

· Travel to satellite facilities as needed to support network implementations and troubleshooting efforts.

· Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues, working across multiple layers of the network stack.

· Support ongoing network operations, including monitoring performance and responding to incidents.

· Follow established processes and take direction from senior engineers and leadership on network initiatives.

· Maintain documentation for network configurations, deployments, and troubleshooting activities.

· Collaborate with IT team members to ensure seamless integration with broader infrastructure and systems.

Requirements

· Foundational knowledge of networking concepts, including OSI layers, switching, routing, and firewall functions.

· Hands-on experience with network hardware such as switches and firewalls (any vendor; Fortinet exposure is a plus but not required).

· CompTIA Network+ certification or equivalent hands-on experience.

· Basic understanding of network troubleshooting methodologies and tools.

· Ability and willingness to perform hands-on, on-site technical work, including physical setup and deployment tasks.

· Strong work ethic with a willingness to start with foundational tasks and build technical expertise over time.

· Ability to follow direction, learn new technologies, and adapt in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

· Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

· Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally to satellite locations as needed.
