Job description
The Vice President of IT ensures that is not just a "cost center" but a growth engine. Governance: They set the policies for who can access what data. Compliance: They ensure the company meets legal standards. Business Continuity: They design the "Plan B." If the servers go down or a cyberattack hits, the VP ensures the company can be back online in minutes, not days. Budgeting: They manage the IT Spend. This involves balancing the cost of keeping the lights on (maintenance) versus investing in innovation. Vendor Hardball: They negotiate with giants like Microsoft, Amazon, or Salesforce. They ensure the company isn't overpaying for "shelfware". Resource Allocation: Deciding whether to hire more full-time engineers or outsource specific projects to a managed service provider (MSP). Team Building: Mentoring IT Directors and Managers to create a pipeline of future leaders. Modernizing the Stack: Deciding when it's time to kill off "Legacy Systems"and move to modern, agile platforms. Cross-Department Synergy: Sitting down with the VP of Sales or the CFO to fix friction points, for example, ensuring the CRM and the Accounting software actually talk to each other.
Your Key Contributions

Develop and execute a multi-year IT strategy that aligns with the company's broader business objectives.

Identify and implement emerging technologies (such as AI, machine learning, or automation) to modernize legacy processes.

Act as the primary technical advisor to the C-suite, translating complex technical concepts into business outcomes.

Oversee the design and maintenance of scalable, reliable, and secure enterprise systems (Cloud, On-prem, and Hybrid).

Ensure high availability of all internal and external-facing systems, maintaining strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Negotiate and manage contracts with third-party vendors, MSPs, and software providers

Direct the development of a comprehensive security strategy to protect company data, IP, and customer privacy.

Establish and test Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) plans to minimize downtime during outages or breaches.

Ensure the organization adheres to relevant legal and industry standards to ensure optimal service and cost-efficiency.

Develop and manage the annual IT CAPEX and OPEX budgets, ensuring maximum Return on Investment (ROI).

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing IT team; foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

Prioritize projects and resources across the IT department to meet deadlines and ensure business consistency.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field. Master's degree in IT Management or Computer Sciences preferred.

10-15 years of experience in the IT field with proven experience driving for results and demonstrating process improvements across an organization

8+ years of progressive IT management experience, including senior leadership responsibility

Proven experience managing multi-million dollar budgets and leading cross-functional teams of at least 20-50+ individuals

Demonstrated ability to align technology strategy with business goals and executive priorities

Capable of creating framework to gather, assess, and present highly technical data in a professional business context
