Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for lecture and/or laboratory instruction in all aspects of computer information systems courses. The prospective candidate must be able to teach computer information systems, networking and cybersecurity courses offered by the college. It is expected that the candidate will be able to maintain the department servers utilizing Linux/Unix operating systems which support coursework within the department., 1. Fulfill the duties of a full-time instructor, including, but not limited to, holding weekly office hours and completing 24 hours of 'flex credit' through various available activities and seminars.

  1. The instructional assignment will include Cybersecurity, networking, and cloud computing lecture, and/or laboratory classes in the discipline of Computer Information Systems. Will include conducting evening and weekend, and off-site locations, as well as all modes of delivery including campus, hybrid, hyflex, and online classes.
  2. Faculty will participate in outcomes assessment work.
  3. Assignments are based upon the assumption of workload of [With the compressed calendar,] workload of 42.5 hours weekly, including but not limited to conducting classes, class preparation, student evaluation, office hours, committee work, curriculum and program development, student learning outcomes assessment, program review, student activities, and other duties per the bargaining unit agreement.
  4. Institutional service activities are expected of all faculty members.
  5. Participation in discipline/department decision making processes and work regarding curriculum, program development and other matters are also expected of all department faculty.
  6. Responsibilities also include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.
  7. Advising student organizations and co-curricular activities is expected.
  8. Responsible for the oversight and maintenance of National Centers of Excellence designation-related activities, assessments, reports, and programs of study.
  9. Participation in/contribution to the update and maintenance of Cyber Security Center web site and content.
  10. Requirements

Master's in computer information systems/cyber security, computer science, computer engineering, management information systems or the equivalent is required. (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions)., A minimum of two years of successful experience teaching computer information systems courses is required. -Teaching experience related to networking and cybersecurity is preferred.

  • A working knowledge and experience in network security, cybersecurity, forensics, VMware, Virtual images, and information assurance may be demonstrated by a portfolio of work products.
  • Knowledge and experience with network design, maintenance, configuration and security is expected. -Cloud computing experience is preferred. -Scripting/automation experience is preferred. -Experience with AI and machine learning for automated incident response and infrastructure deployment is preferred.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Certifications in one or more of the following areas is preferred: CCNA Cisco Certified Network Associate, CyberOPS, Cisco Network Security CISSP Certified Information Systems Security Professional CEH Certified Ethical Hacking CHFI Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator, CompTIA Security + and A+, +LPIC-1 Linux Professional Institute Certification (Linux Server Professional Certification) or CompTIA Linux+.

  1. Salary is commensurate with academic preparation, and full-time teaching or equivalent experience with a range from Column C, Step 1 to Column H, Step 6 of the current Faculty Salary Schedule.
