Job description

GDIT is seeking a Senior Full Stack Java Developer to support customer initiatives in Washington, DC (this position may be worked remotely). This role focuses on building scalable, secure, and high-performance applications using modern Java technologies and React., You will design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based web applications and distributed systems, leveraging Spring frameworks and React. This role includes building and integrating RESTful APIs and microservices, ensuring high performance, security, and reliability across the application stack. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver robust, user-focused solutions., + Develop and maintain full stack Java-based web applications

  • Build responsive, modern user interfaces using React

  • Design, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code; refactor as needed

  • Participate in system design, development, testing, and debugging

  • Troubleshoot and resolve application and system issues

  • Stay current with modern development tools, frameworks, and best practices

Requirements

Full Stack Development,Java Software Development,React.js

Experience:

6 + years of related experience, + Bachelor's degree in Computer Scienceor related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 8+ years of full stack development experience

  • Strong proficiency in Java (17+)

  • Strong experience in Java-based web application development and distributed systems architecture

  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices

  • Must have Experience with Spring Framework and demonstrate strong understanding of various layers of Spring MVC design.

  • Experience with ORM tools (e.g., Hibernate)

  • Strong hands-on experience with React and modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, CSS

  • Solid understanding of application architecture and design patterns

  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)

  • Familiarity with build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle)

  • Knowledge of secure coding practices (Spring Security, OAuth, JWT, authentication/authorization)

  • Strong proficiency with Git, including branching strategies, pull requests/code reviews, and CI/CD workflows

  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms

  • Strong experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments

Preferred Skills

  • Experience integrating with AWS SDK (e.g., S3)

  • Experience building scalable RESTful services in cloud environments

  • Knowledge of accessibility (Section 508) standards and testing tools

  • Experience with modern UI/UX best practices

  • Exposure to additional programming languages such as Python

Benefits & conditions

The likely salary range for this position is $123,250 - $166,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
