Job description

  • Provide field-level support of all IT equipment including troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance.
  • (Radios, phones, PC's, printers, Smartphones, Audio/Visual systems, etc.), Complete repairs and order/replace parts to resolve issues with end user computing devices, including PCs, printers, multi-function devices, peripherals, mobile devices, radios, and telephones.
  • Review unresolved Service Desk tickets for the assigned geographic region, contact the employee, and resolve the request. This includes documenting the completed work and closing the ticket. Assist with state-wide tickets as needed.
  • Lead small and large-scale projects for the new roll-out or upgrades of user equipment in the assigned geographic region to include system preparation, device set up, training, maintenance, troubleshooting and communication.
  • Design, Implement, install, and support network solutions. This can also include the physical installation of LAN/WAN or battery backup equipment.
  • Recommend opportunities to provide technical solutions or process improvements.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets in the assigned geographic region, including periodic audits of those assets.
  • Manage field-level disposal process for IT assets.
  • Represent IT on Regional Coordination Team, and help set IT direction, discuss solutions, and facilitate communication between the field and IT Management.
  • Complete troubleshooting and configuration within Unified Communications and the devices associated with this technology.
  • Create curriculum and provide end-user training on communication devices such as mobile and portable two-way radios.
  • Utilize specialized radio test equipment to complete radio repeater checks annually to ensure performance and FCC compliance., * Conduct research, collaborate with other sections of IT, and provide input in decision making for future projects, directions, changes, fixes.
  • Support regional staff or statewide initiatives outside normal working hours.
  • Support IT/AV needs for large multi-room and multi-session meetings and conferences at Department and non-Department locations.
  • Regular same day travel across region and occasional overnight travel.
  • Attend project, vendor, security, department, and infrastructure meetings.
  • Participate in MDC efforts with other divisions.
  • Complete repairs and replacement of 110-volt AC devices such as: line voltage thermostats and exhaust fans., * A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in desktop, two-way radio, networking, or telecommunications area supporting personal computers, This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive; an employee will also perform other reasonably related job responsibilities as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required. Exemption Status/Special Notes

This position has been determined to be Nonexempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act. Employees must agree to accept compensatory time in lieu of cash payments in accordance with the Department's Compensatory Time Off and Overtime Policy.

Salaried and hourly employees are expected to use a mobile device-cellular phone for Department business, as needed.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Employee relationship building?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or closely related field., * two-way radio, telephony, local area networks, or information management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.
  • A+ and Network +, or the ability to acquire the certificate through CompTIA preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Two Way Radios, Computer hardware and software systems, Office 365, Active Directory, radio technology, and telephony and IP phone systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Windows operating system and of Apple iOS.
  • Ability to develop new insights into situations and apply innovative solutions that make data improvements
  • Ability to keep focused on understanding, anticipating and responding to the needs of customers.
  • Ability to administer financial resources in a manner which instills public trust and accomplishes the Department's mission.
  • Ability to accept change and new information and cope with extreme job pressure and stress.

  • Ability to understand and utilize specialized test equipment such as Fluke network testers, digital multi-meters, the Aeroflex 8800 Digital Radio Test Set, and analog and digital watt meters.

Work Environment

  • Regularly work in a standard office environment.
  • Occasional travel to field locations, including radio tower sites and conservation areas.

Physical Abilities

  • Remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.

  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and precise hand-eye coordination.
