Job description
Under the supervision of the Technical Lead Supervisor, the Network Administrator installs, configures, and maintains the organization's IT network infrastructure, continuity, disaster recovery including LANs, WANs, and firewalls. The Network Administrator ensures high network performance, security, and reliability, while troubleshooting hardware and software issues. Key skills include knowledge of routing protocols, server management, and strong communication for user support. This role involves strategic planning, technical leadership, and project coordination to implement software solutions, resolve technical issues, and safeguard information systems assets.
- Essential Functions
a. Technical Leadership & System Management
i. Monitor system usage, analyze data, and recommend new technologies to meet the Group's evolving Management Information Systems (MIS) needs.
ii. Identify and implement hardware and software solutions to support the MIS plan.
iii. Ensure optimal performance of NJSIG's network and systems by fine-tuning configurations and resolving contention issues.
iv. Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and telecommunications systems.
v. Research and recommend cost-effective applications to enhance divisional MIS capabilities.
b. Security & Disaster Recovery
i. The lead on developing, maintaining, and testing a comprehensive disaster recovery plan.
ii. Implement security measures to protect infrastructure and data, including firewalls, encryption, and access controls.
iii. Plan and execute fallback/recovery options to ensure business continuity during emergencies (e.g., fire, flood, cyberattacks).
c. User Support & Training
i. Provide advanced technical support for end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
ii. Develop and enforce IT policies to maximize resource utilization and user productivity.
iii. Conduct training sessions for staff on new software, security protocols, and best practices.
d. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
i. Liaise with software and hardware vendors to address technical issues and stay updated on industry developments.
ii. Collaborate with the Technical Lead Supervisor and IT Manager to forecast software needs and incorporate them into the departmental budget.
iii. Communicate technical updates and project progress to senior management and stakeholders.
e. Project Management
i. Lead special projects aimed at enhancing the Group's MIS capabilities.
ii. Coordinate cross-functional teams to implement new technologies or system upgrades.
iii. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals.
f. Compliance & Reporting
i. Monitor network performance, capacity, and usage, generating reports for management review.
ii. Document IT procedures, incidents, and resolutions for future reference.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, a. Education & Experience
i. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
ii. Minimum of 5 years of experience as Network administrator or related role.
iii. Experience with SonicWall VPN, DUO, Watchguard and V-LAN's preferred.
iv. Experienced and proficient with VMware and vSphere.
v. Experienced and proficient with MS Windows Server 2016, 2025.
vi. Experience with a DMS (Document Management System) is preferred.
vii. Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, ITIL, or PMP are highly desirable.
viii. Experience with PeopleSoft Financials preferred.
ix. Experience with Origami Claims/Policy preferred.
b. Technical Skills
i. Proficiency in network administration (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, routers).
ii. Experience with cloud computing, virtualization, and enterprise software solutions.
iii. Experience with HP server hardware, Windows software, SAN storage hardware.
iv. Strong knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and disaster recovery planning.
v. Experience with windows network security, file access, active directory, DNS and DHCP.
vi. Familiarity with helpdesk ticketing systems and remote support tools.
vii. Exempt Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
viii. Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff and external vendors.
ix. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
c. Work Environment
i. Office setting with moderate noise levels.
ii. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and be on-call 24/7 for emergencies.
iii. Occasional travel to client sites, or vendor meetings.
d. Legal Requirements
i. Residency in the State of New Jersey, as required by the New Jersey First Act, unless exempted.
e. Physical Demands
i. Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.
ii. Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or working at a computer.
