Job description
You'll work directly with our lead developer every day as the second half of a two-person dev team. Our lead generates code quickly, including AI-assisted output, and your job is to catch what breaks, fix it, track it, and push the build forward.
This is not a role where you wait for tickets. It's a role where you own the quality of a fast-moving codebase and have real influence over how it gets built. If you like the loop of build * break * find it * fix it * ship it, this is the job.
We run weekly sprints, daily standups, and a structured Scrum process. Priorities are clear, work is tracked, and output is visible. We move quickly and we're deliberate about it.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
- Reading, testing, and debugging PHP/React code, including AI-generated output, and owning the quality of every release
- Writing and executing test cases for new features before they hit production
- Tracking bugs, documenting findings, and communicating clearly on status in every sprint
- Fixing issues at the root cause level, not patching symptoms
- Working in Git daily, branching, merging, pull requests, commit discipline
- Participating in sprint planning and contributing to backlog grooming
- Collaborating directly with the lead developer to maintain momentum and catch gaps before they compound
The Stack
- PHP - backend and API layer
- React - frontend
- PostgreSQL - relational database
- Git / GitHub - version control, required
- Scrum / Weekly Sprints - how we work
Requirements
Do you have experience in Version control?, * 2-4 years of experience in web development, with real production PHP and React work to show for it
- Strong debugging instincts; you can read unfamiliar code, form a hypothesis, and test it, Leverage AI to help speed up the debugging
- Git experience that goes beyond just committing; you understand branching strategy and can navigate a shared repo without creating chaos
- Comfort working in a rapid-iteration environment where requirements evolve and speed matters
- Solid written communication; you can document a bug clearly and write a status update a non-developer can follow
- Experience with or genuine curiosity about AI-assisted development workflows
- A bias toward shipping over theorizing
Benefits & conditions
Pulled from the full job description
- Paid time off, This is not a slow-moving corporate environment. There is no six-month onboarding. The codebase is new, the pace is high, and the expectation is that you're contributing meaningfully within the first two weeks. If you need heavy structure and long runways to do good work, this role will frustrate you.
If you do your best work when the problem is real, the feedback is fast, and the build is yours to break and fix, you'll fit here.
