Job description

STN is seeking a Data Center Technician to join our infrastructure team. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and support of our mission-critical data center environment in Chicago, Illinois. You'll work hands-on with hardware, cabling, monitoring systems, and server infrastructure, while collaborating with IT engineers to deliver reliable and secure services to our organization and customers., * Install, configure, and maintain servers, networking equipment, and related hardware.

  • Monitor system performance, uptime, and environmental conditions within the data center.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on equipment, including hardware inspections and cable management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, connectivity, and power issues.
  • Assist with hardware lifecycle management (rack/stack, decommissioning, upgrades).
  • Maintain accurate documentation of equipment, workflows, and incidents in Netbox.
  • Ensure compliance with security, safety, and operational standards.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • 3+ years of experience in a data center or IT infrastructure role.
  • Familiarity with server hardware, networking basics, and operating systems (Windows/Linux).
  • Hands-on experience with racking, cabling, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 75 lbs.) as needed.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.

Preferred

  • Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools and ticketing systems.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, or similar.
  • Familiarity with power management, cooling systems, or large-scale data center operations.
