Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive System Support Officer to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and supporting our organisation's IT infrastructure, ensuring system stability, security, and optimal performance. The position is paid and ideal for candidates who thrive in fast-paced settings and possess excellent organisational and communication skills., * Manage and support network infrastructure including DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP configurations, VPNs, firewalls, and virtualisation platforms such as VMware and Azure.

  • Administer Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Perform system administration tasks on Linux-based systems using Bash (Unix shell) and PowerShell scripting to automate processes.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues related to TCP/IP protocols and computer networking components.
  • Maintain security protocols by managing firewalls, VPNs, and implementing best practices for cybersecurity.
  • Support cloud-based services on AWS and Azure, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Conduct analysis of system logs and performance metrics to identify potential issues before they impact operations.
  • Assist with database management using SQL and optimise system performance through regular maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams and end-users, delivering excellent customer service while resolving hardware/software issues efficiently.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps clearly in organisational knowledge bases.

Requirements

Do you have experience in System administration?, * Proven experience in system administration with a strong understanding of Microsoft Windows Server environments and Active Directory.

  • Solid knowledge of computer networking concepts including DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP protocols, VPNs, firewalls, and network security best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems, Bash scripting, PowerShell automation tools, and virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure is highly desirable.
  • Competence in managing SQL databases along with analysis skills for diagnosing system issues effectively.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Strong communication skills in English to liaise effectively across teams and with clients.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Administrative experience related to IT support or infrastructure management is advantageous.
