Job description
The Systems Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating technical teams throughout the system development lifecycle, ensuring successful design, implementation, operation, and technical management of system projects. This role takes a holistic systems engineering approach, working closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, develop system architectures, oversee implementation, and support deployed systems., Systems Engineering
- Facilitate product and system requirements gathering and analysis with stakeholders.
- Perform systems engineering lifecycle activities including requirements analysis, system definition, synthesis, systems analysis, and implementation.
- Develop system architectures and design solutions for systems of moderate complexity.
- Define and refine internal and external system interfaces.
- Analyze system functionality against established requirements.
- Create and contribute to technical documentation, reports, and system diagrams.
Project & Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership and engineering guidance to development teams.
- Translate customer and project management requirements into technical direction.
- Support project planning, execution, and delivery activities.
- Develop and maintain project schedules and plans using MS Project.
- Monitor project status, resource allocation, and critical path activities.
- Support day-to-day coordination between customers, project managers, and technical teams.
- Establish and enforce systems and software development processes.
Software & System Development
- Design and develop embedded software solutions for embedded systems.
- Develop system and software requirements, architecture, and design documentation.
- Lead integration efforts involving multiple subsystems.
- Support Agile software development processes and technical execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, software development, or related technical fields.
- Experience developing embedded military systems software using C/C++ and/or Ada.
- Experience with system requirements development and system design activities.
- Experience creating and managing project schedules using MS Project.
- Experience leading Agile development teams.
- Experience managing project budgets, spend plans, and financial tracking.
- Experience leading technical development projects involving systems engineering and software development.
- Experience integrating multiple subsystems into larger system architectures.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using Cameo.
- Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.).
- Experience with GitLab or similar configuration management tools.
- Experience working directly with customers on technical and project management activities.
- Experience integrating complex military systems.
- Experience with Tactical Data Links and/or Electronic Warfare systems.
