# From Prompt Engineering to Harness Engineering: Building Observable and Governed GenAI Systems

As Generative AI moves from prototypes to production, prompt engineering alone is no longer enough. Developers now need a broader engineering layer around prompts, models, retrieval, tools, agents, evaluation, logging, safety checks, and observability. This session introduces Harness Engineering as a practical approach for building reliable and governed GenAI applications. Through enterprise-style architecture patterns, the talk explains how teams can add traceability, prompt/version control, metadata logging, policy checks, evaluation loops, and monitoring to GenAI systems. Attendees will leave with a practical blueprint for moving GenAI applications from experiments to production-ready systems.
