# The Last Generation to Learn It the Hard Way: What Comes Next for Engineering in India

- **Date:** Wednesday, Nov 25, 2026
- **Time:** 20:00–20:30 (30 min)
- **Room:** Mainstage
- **Event:** Conference India 2026

## Description

For twenty years, the advantage here was scale and execution more engineers, delivering more, faster. Both are now cheap. This panel asks what developers in India build their careers on instead: whether the work shifts from delivering someone else's roadmap to defining your own, what it means to go from implementing specs to owning outcomes, and whether those of us who learned through struggle picked up something the next cohort simply won't. Is this the decade Indian engineering stops executing and starts deciding or the decade the ladder gets pulled up behind us? The room won't agree, and that's the point.
