## Description

Matt White, Executive Director of the PyTorch Foundation and GM of AI at the Linux Foundation, will discuss the evolving landscape of open source AI, distinguishing between open weights models like Llama and permissive open models such as DeepSeek-r2 and Granite. He will examine how the Model Openness Framework and OpenMDW license are reshaping AI development, enabling genuine collaboration while ensuring permissive usage of open models.

The talk will cover the implications of the EU AI Act on open source development, practical challenges in model governance, and emerging opportunities for developers.
