# Web Push: Turning Annoyance into Engagement

## Description

Probably most people know that push notifications exist on the web platform. But how many of us really like them or think that they are handy? Most likely only very few of us. Instead, don’t people - myself included - usually reject permission requests for push notifications by default when visiting a website?

This talk addresses a critical aspect of modern web application development: user experience.

The thesis I propose, is: Web push is powerful, but UX is key.

By focusing on UX best practices for web push notifications, attendees will learn how to create engaging and valuable experiences that users will embrace, rather than block. The talk will also give an overview about the technical implementation details, providing practical knowledge for developers to integrate web push effectively into their applications.

1.  The Web Push Paradox
- Introduce the concept of web push and its use cases.
- Highlight the negative perception of web push due to poor UX practices.

2. Web Push is Powerful, but UX is Key
- Emphasize the importance of user experience in web push implementations.
- Outline some exciting and promising features of web push for user experience on the web platform.

- Explain the two main flows: Subscription and Sending.
- Provide a technical overview of the building blocks of web push.
