Linux (pseudo)filesystems like procfs (/proc), sysfs (/sys), cgroupfs etc. quietly power the entire cloud-native world. In this talk, we’ll explore what these filesystems actually do.. how overlayfs enables container layers, how tmpfs keeps things fast, and why securityfs and efivarfs matter. I'll give a brief intro in filesystems overall, then provide some deep dive info for selected pseudo-FS, their purpose and show how they make modern cloud systems tick. ## Speaker ### [Daniel Drack](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/@daniel-drack) Senior DevOps Engineer at FullStackS ## Related talks at this congress - [The Hidden Costs of CPU Limits in Kubernetes](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/events/world-congress-2026-europe/sessions/1444-the-hidden-costs-of) — Pavel Malyarevsky - [Your Kubernetes Node Is Not a Server: Rethinking the OS Layer](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/events/world-congress-2026-europe/sessions/1359-your-kubernetes-node) — Natanael Copa - [5 Years in Cloud Native: The Good, the Bad, and the Bill](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/events/world-congress-2026-europe/sessions/1112-5-years-in-cloud) — Simone Desantis - [From Cloud Racks to Control Cabinets: Operating Kubernetes on Edge Devices](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/events/world-congress-2026-europe/sessions/1173-from-cloud-racks-to) — Thomas Weinschenk
