## Description

TypeScript emerged as a practical, editor-first extension of JavaScript to help teams scale JavaScript with a structural, gradual type system and better tooling.

This talk traces that origin story and highlights the features that "changed the game" from strict null checking and discriminated unions to advanced conditional/template literal types and recent compiler performance advances.
