Working within a multidisciplinary team that includes Registered Communications Distribution Designers (RCDDs), DAS engineers, and operational technicians, the incumbent collaborates closely with engineering, construction, and operational stakeholders to ensure telecommunications infrastructure supports reliability, redundancy, scalability, maintainability, and code compliance within mission-critical healthcare environments., * 30% - Engineering and Operational Coordination * 40% - Infrastructure Cabling Services Operations * 15% - Low Voltage Cabling Construction Administration * 10% - Communications Infrastructure Planning * 5% - Creating and maintaining Division 27/28 specifications and Owner Project Requirements (OPR) documents. Department Overview The incumbent works directly with operational technicians to support maintenance, troubleshooting, and infrastructure modifications while minimizing service interruptions across a complex healthcare campus environment. This role also supports compliance and lifecycle management activities by assisting with repairs, upgrades, and infrastructure changes affecting ICS managed systems. Responsibilities include hands on maintenance of installed infrastructure, ensuring adherence to applicable industry codes and standards, including the California Electrical Code (CEC), California Building Code (CBC), TIA standards, HCAI requirements, Division 27 specifications, and UC Davis Health Owner Project Requirements (OPR). The selected candidate reviews technical submittals, responds to RFIs, conducts quality-control inspections, and coordinates with contractors, consultants, and project teams on assigned construction projects. This position participates in the ICS on-call rotation to support critical infrastructure needs. Department Specific Job Scope The ICS Communications and Technical Analyst IV provides engineering coordination, operational support, and construction administration throughout the lifecycle of UCDH telecommunications and low voltage infrastructure projects. The incumbent acts as a liaison between Design-Build contractors, architectural and engineering teams, IT project managers, and operational staff to support project delivery and long-term maintainability of telecommunications systems. The position supports daily maintenance and operational activities related to cable plant infrastructure, telecommunications pathways and spaces, overhead paging, DAS, ERRCS, and associated low voltage systems. Working closely with RCDD and DAS engineering personnel, the incumbent assists with infrastructure planning, documentation review, troubleshooting, and field coordination activities supporting both fiber optic and copper systems. The incumbent ensures installations, modifications, and maintenance activities comply with UCDH Owner Project Requirements (OPR), Division 27 standards, NEC, TIA standards, and HCAI requirements while supporting documentation accuracy, process consistency, and operational continuity., Overtime, Holiday, Weekend, and off shift work occasionally required.
