License / Professional Certification: NYS P.E. - Professional Engineering, * Knowledge of NYCT rules and regulations. * Experience in the rapid transit industry. * Project Management experience with strong independent judgment and decision-making ability. * Advanced degree in mechanical or electrical engineering. * Proficiency in MS Project and/or Primavera and MS Office Suite. * Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills. * Ability to work effectively both independently and in team-based environments. * Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills. * Thorough understanding of railcar and control system design, testing, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and corrective action., Selection will be based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, interview, and written assessment. All selected candidates will be subject to a full background investigation including employment and education verification. Discrepancies may lead to dismissal. ## Description This position will be responsible for all engineering aspects of electrical/mechanical systems design for new car procurement(s) from Technical Specification development through contract closeout. The Manager will be responsible for railcar operating systems including, but not limited to, Carbody and Truck Structure, HVAC, Propulsion, Electronic Brake Control, Doors, Communications, and Trainline function and integration. These activities will include technical design review and approval, report analysis and approval, systems inspection, systems validation, and maintainability demonstration review to ensure compliance with Technical Specification and contractual requirements. The Manager will lead a staff of electrical or mechanical engineers to carry out these duties, supporting various stakeholders including the Maintenance and Overhaul Shops, MTA C&D, Central Electronics Shop, and Procurement.
