As a Principal Propulsion Engineer, you'll own the design, development, integration, test, and qualification of flight fluid systems. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and integration teams to iterate, answer questions, and close feedback loops. This role blends deep technical ownership with cross-functional collaboration, serving as both an individual contributor and a technical mentor. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, hardware-rich environments, embracing new challenges with grit, creativity, and accountability. We're looking for engineers who are excited to roll up their sleeves and help define the future of space transportation. RESPONSIBILITIES * Own and lead the full lifecycle development of flight fluid systems-from concept through launch and operation. * Develop architectures that improve reliability, simplify manufacturing, and reduce cost and schedule risk. * Define system requirements and interface definitions for propulsion, pressurization, venting, purging, fill/drain, and other fluidic subsystems. * Execute detailed designs using CAD and analytical tools, and coordinate closely with thermal, structural, systems, and integration teams. * Oversee qualification and acceptance test campaigns, including procedure development, test execution, and data review. * Lead technical risk trades, anomaly investigations, and corrective actions across engineering and production. * Mentor early-career engineers and provide technical reviews of hardware designs, analysis, and test plans. * Serve as the discipline owner in program architecture discussions and influence long-term roadmap for in-space servicing and reusability. ## Related Videos - [Engineering/Manager Pendulum: Generating compound interest on your career](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100348-engineering-manager-pendulum-generating-compound-interest-on-your-career) - [Times of (climate) crisis - How and why sustainable software is a must!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/988-times-of-climate-crisis-how-and-why-sustainable-software-is-a-must) - [WeAreDevelopers LIVE - Modern DevOps for IoT Devices and More](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1805-wearedevelopers-live-modern-devops-for-iot-devices-and-more) - [Building a hypercar from scratch](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/607-building-a-hypercar-from-scratch) - [More efficient software for more efficient microchips](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1164-more-efficient-software-for-more-efficient-microchips) - [Crew Management System for Airlines: Plan duties for pilots & flight attendants worldwide](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1444-crew-management-system-for-airlines-plan-duties-for-pilots-flight-attendants-worldwide) ## Related Articles - [Is Software Engineering Hard?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/448-is-software-engineering-hard) - [Software Engineer Career: Things You Should Know](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/143-software-engineer-career-things-you-should-know) - [Top Characteristics of a Software Engineer](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/166-top-characteristics-of-a-software-engineer) - [What is Software Engineering?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/289-what-is-software-engineering) - [How Much FAANG Companies Actually Pay Software Engineers in 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/230-how-much-faang-companies-actually-pay-software-engineers-in-2025) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers)
