 * Experience with spatial databases such as Oracle Spatial or PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
 * Strong understanding of utility distribution systems and GIS data management.
 * Experience with GPS data collection and field mapping technologies.
 * Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
 * Ability to lead projects and mentor junior team members., * Gas utility experience.
 * As-built mapping experience.
 * Experience supporting asset management or outage management systems.

## Description

Nicor Gas is seeking an experienced GIS Technician III to support the development, maintenance, and optimization of GIS data for utility distribution systems. This senior-level role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of GIS databases, performing advanced spatial analysis, supporting engineering and operations teams, and mentoring junior GIS technicians., * Maintain and optimize GIS databases for utility distribution systems.

 * Create, update, and validate GIS maps, drawings, and as-built records.
 * Perform advanced spatial analysis to support distribution planning, asset management, and outage management.
 * Oversee GIS data collection, field updates, and quality assurance activities.
 * Collaborate with engineering, operations, and other business units to integrate GIS data with enterprise systems.
 * Generate maps, reports, and GIS deliverables for operational and regulatory needs.
 * Maintain GIS documentation, metadata, and data standards.
 * Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training to junior GIS staff.
 * Support GIS software upgrades, system maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
 * Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with company standards.
