## About the Role

* Knowledge of office procedures, computer and software technology, use of policies & procedures and customer service
 * Strong interpersonal and communication skills, orally and written
 * Strong organizational skills and experience with software applications and Microsoft Office products (i.e. WORD, EXCEL, and database entry) and general office equipment (copier, fax, calculator)
 * Ability and experience with setting up and maintaining files & manuals
 * Ability to maintain confidentiality
 * Ability to follow and apply established procedures and applicable policies

## Description

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 33 local health districts. Three Rivers Health District serves the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula region which includes the counties of: Richmond, Westmoreland, Northumberland, Lancaster, Essex, Middlesex, Mathews, Gloucester, King & Queen and King William.

The position of Program Support Technician will:

Independently perform technical office tasks in support of a single program area regularly requiring application of policy and procedures.

Characteristic activities: Serves as contact and information resource for one or more programs; serves as lead worker to direct, advise and train others; designs and directs workflow processes; researches and processes claims; collects data and prepares reports on program activities. May provide performance input regarding staff to appropriate supervisor.
