Job Specification The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here. ## Description This GIS Analyst is located in the Land Administration Division within the Office of Energy, in Baton Rouge, LA. The GIS Analyst 1, 2, or 3 performs geographic mapping services in support of the GIS program within the Department of Conservation and Energy. This position performs advanced-level GIS work and is primarily responsible for mapping and GIS data, and providing assistance to agency stakeholders as it relates to the GIS program., Going forward, OEN integrates program development, rulemaking, stakeholder engagement, and energy planning into a single hub that drives Louisiana's energy future. It develops policy, manages data and statistics, and conducts fiscal and risk analyses to guide enforcement priorities, emphasizing protection of good operators, risk-based resource allocation, and solution-oriented compliance. The office oversees communications, public engagement, intergovernmental affairs, and coalition-building, ensuring transparency and alignment with state and federal initiatives. At the same time, OEN manages federal energy grants, supports permitting of renewable assets, and advances grid resilience, microgrids, hydrogen, and other emerging technologies. By embedding energy expertise across C&E, OEN balances traditional oil and gas development with renewable growth, fosters partnerships with universities, industry, and local governments, and builds public awareness of Louisiana's evolving energy landscape., * Reviews, analyzes, and generates maps, location plats, and other GIS imagery in support of a designated office within C&E or as assigned by GIS Manager * Downloads GIS data from SONRIS and other databases * Supports a designated office within C&E with technical, regulatory, and administrative matters pertaining to GIS data capture, analysis, presentations, and work products * Receives/processes GIS data submitted by stakeholders * Creates and maintains metadata associated with various GIS datasets as needed * Attends workshops, seminars, and training to develop and maintains familiarity with GIS software and standards, Appointment Type: Probational and Promotional Career Progression: This position does participate in a Career Progression Group GIS Analyst 1, 2, or 3.
