Applies strong knowledge of cloud-native application architecture principles, software engineering practices, and organizational guidelines to build scalable, secure, and operable solutions. Works independently on most assignments while collaborating closely with senior architects and providing technical guidance to engineers and less experienced architects. Responsibilities * Design and implement cloud-native application-level architectures, translating business and technical requirements into practical, buildable solutions. * Apply established cloud-native architectural standards, patterns, and best practices when designing applications and services. * Collaborate with solution architects, platform teams, and engineering teams to ensure applications integrate effectively and meet security, resiliency, and operational expectations. * Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and junior architects through design reviews, code reviews, and architecture discussions. * Analyze and resolve moderately complex architectural and design issues within cloud-native applications and services. * Contribute feedback and implementation insights to the evolution of cloud-native standards and reusable patterns. * Document application architecture designs, decisions, and trade-offs to support knowledge sharing and maintainability. * Ensure applications are designed for high availability, fault tolerance, and optimal performance under load. Job Tasks * Design application and service-level architecture diagrams, interface definitions, and technical specifications. * Participate in architecture and design reviews to assess solution quality, risk, and alignment with standards. * Support development teams during implementation to ensure architectural intent is preserved. * Evaluate emerging cloud-native tools, services, and frameworks for potential application within the team or domain. * Assist with proof-of-concepts and prototypes for new cloud-native technologies and patterns. * Apply 'Secure by Design' principles, including Zero Trust concepts, compliance requirements, and data protection practices, within application designs. ## Related Videos - [Leveraging Real time data in FSIs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/806-leveraging-real-time-data-in-fsis) - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [Innovating Developer Tools with AI: Insights from GitHub Next](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1268-innovating-developer-tools-with-ai-insights-from-github-next) - [Cloud-nativeApplications- What’s the buzz about](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/55-cloud-nativeapplications-what-s-the-buzz-about) - [NoSQL Data Modeling for Front-end Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/297-nosql-data-modeling-for-front-end-developers) - [Architectures that we can use with .NET](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/935-architectures-that-we-can-use-with-net) ## Related Articles - [What Are The Top Skills Required For Azure Developers?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/77-what-are-the-top-skills-required-for-azure-developers) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Top Must-Visit Developer Conferences in the US in 2026](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/679-top-must-visit-developer-conferences-in-the-us-in-2026) - [The 12 Best Jobs for Software Engineers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/401-the-12-best-jobs-for-software-engineers) - [What’s the Difference between a Junior, Mid, and Senior Developer?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/238-what-s-the-difference-between-a-junior-mid-and-senior-developer)
